How to Store an Opened Wine bottle?

Often, we do not want to consume all the wine in the bottle, as we only want to enjoy a glass of wine. Therefore, the question may arise: how should we store an already opened bottle of wine?

After opening the bottle, the wine is exposed to oxygen, thus initiating a slow oxidative process. With acetic bacteria, wine can be converted into vinegar. So, there are certain precautions that we must take to avoid the oxidation process.

See our tips for storing a bottle of wine already opened correctly.

Red Wines

The greater the acidity and tannins in red wine, the longer the shelf life will be after opening your bottle. They can last for about 3 to 5 days, as long as they are properly sealed and kept in the refrigerator or in a dark environment at room temperature.

White and Rosé Wines

They can be stored in the refrigerator for 5 to 7 days. However, keep in mind that its taste may change, depending on its oxidation.

Sparkling Wines

Right after opening the bottle, the sparkling wines start to lose carbonization, and should be consumed up to a maximum of 3 days later. The bottle must be sealed with a bubble resistant stopper.

In short, wines that are already open should have as little contact with oxygen as possible, so that the oxidation process is even slower.
